In collaboration with Microsoft, the online payment service provider PayPal has announced the integration of payment services into the instant messaging and VoIP client Skype. This integration of payment services allows the processing of payments directly in Skype.
However, Users can then transfer money to friends, acquaintances, family members or other Skype users but not the payment of services or products. The user basically simply displays the amount to be transferred, confirms the processing of the payment, and then the transaction is completed.
In the PayPal Stories, John Kunze, VP of PayPal wrote; "Today, we’re excited to announce that PayPal is now partnering with Skype to allow users in 22 countries to send money to other Skype users with PayPal via their Skype mobile app. With over one billion Skype mobile downloads to date globally, users will be able to use PayPal directly from their Skype app to seamlessly send money in the moment – like for a gift for a family member across the country or internationally."
Currently, this new "Send Money" option is available in latest Skype iOS and Android mobile app, under the menu. The ability to send money with PayPal on Skype is starting to roll out today to PayPal and Skype users in the United States, United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain.
