Attackers had managed to penetrate into the systems of the service by a highly professional attack with advanced social engineering and rob them. Unconfirmed reports said It is approximately 4,700(Nearly $64m) bitcoin were stolen. In order to get a final overview and to close the security gaps from where the attackers came in, the service was switched off for 24 hours.NiceHash release an official statement
In a statement, NiceHash said: "Our payment system was compromised and the contents of the NiceHash Bitcoin wallet have been stolen. We are working to verify the precise number of bitcoin taken." The company also said, "We understand that you will have a lot of questions, and we ask for patience and understanding while we investigate the causes and find the appropriate solutions for the future of the service."NiceHash recommended changing password
The company has reported this huge security breach to the police. In order to prevent further problems, NiceHash also advised users to change their passwords for online services as soon as possible.This is not the first case of Bitcoin loot. The world's most popular digital currency, Bitcoin has long been a target for hackers to expand their holdings. On 19 June 2011, a Japanese bitcoin exchange Mt Gox was hacked. Around $8,750,000 worth bitcoin were robbed. In this case, a hacker allegedly used credentials from a Mt. Gox auditor's compromised computer. Using the credentials, hacker transferred a large number of bitcoins illegally to himself and used exchange's software to sell.
