According to the report of Financial Express, Reliance Infocom Ltd added 6 million subscribers to its Jio Network in March 2017, which is almost double the number of subscribers in April. At the same time, Reliance Jio announced in February this year that the company has added 100 million subscribers to its network within six months. Since January 2017, Reliance Jio has started seeing a drop in numbers. The company added 18.5 million subscribers to its network in January. At the same time, 12.21 million in February was connected to the company.
The company added 16 million subscribers in September 2016. After that, 19.6 million in October, 16.3 million in November and 20.3 million in December was connected to the company. A slight decline was seen in November as the company's promotional 'Welcome Offer' scheme was about to end that month. In December, with the onset of the Reliance Jio Happy New Year offer, the subscriber account was revived again.
It is to be noted that despite the decline in the number of subscribers in comparison to 9.29 percent in March 2017, Reliance Jio has acquired 9.58 percent in April. At the same time, Bharti Airtel added 2.9 million subscribers in March. While Vodafone India and Idea Cellular added 0.76 million and 0.68 million respectively.
However, in the case of user growth, Reliance Jio has been leading in the forefront. It is worth noting that Reliance Jio had shut down its free services in April. If users want to take advantage of other services including 4G data, Jio app subscriptions, free voice calls and SMS, then taking Jio Prime membership for the services of Reliance Jio and recharging of Rs 309 was necessary.
